Questlove Talks New Book, Prince + More On NPR's 'Fresh Air'
This weekend, Minneapolis' storied First Avenue venue will be graced with what is perhaps, at least sentimentally, the most impressive Prince tribute to date. Wendy, Lisa, Dr. Fink, Brownmark and Bobby Z will reunite as The Revolution in the house that they themselves built along with their devoted leader. They'll play two consecutive nights at First Avenue on September 2nd and 3rd, with special guests Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson; two longtime friends and collaborators of The Purple One's, particularly in his early years.
Today we learn that at least two more guests can be expected, as our very own devoted leader Questlove will man the ones and twos at an all-purple-everything after-party event that will commence just after the final note of the band's performance rings. According to The Star Tribune, Prince's Purple Rain co-star Apollonia Kotero will also be present for the festivities. Obviously this is a tough last-minute preparation for those who are just catching wind of it all, but if you do happen to have a few frequent flyer miles saved up (and a free weekend,) First Avenue certainly seems like the place to be. The venue has just released a small batch of tickets, though we imagine they'll be going quick.
You can also cop tickets to the after-party alone for $10 if the full price of admission is too steep.
