In a bit of somber news, it seems that it is officially time to bid Hybird - ?uestlove's Chelsea Market chicken shack - a bittersweet goodbye. ?uestlove delivered the official news of his recent decision to axe the venture with STARR Restaurants in a meandering treatise on his Facebook page. The sad but slightly relieved goodbye from ?uest invokes a mixed bag of quotables, as he cites everyone from Shakespeare to A Tribe Called Quest in an attempt to explain the chicken stand's untimely demise; all signs and colorful pop culture references point to poor sales as the culprit behind the stand's closure. While there won't be anymore of those drumsticks that famously made the cover of New York Magazine's 2013 Cheap Eats issue or the biscuits reportedly as addictive as the sweet spots in ?uesto's favorite Dilla beats, there is undoubtedly something bigger - or at least more satisfying - on the horizon for our fearless leader as he continues his descent into the wide wild world of life as a professional foodie. Check the text below to read the full obituary to the almighty bird from the man himself. Stop by Chelsea Market to pay your respects to the shuttered Hybird digs. Keep an eye on the omni-present ?uesto to see what he's up to next!
