Raekwon Discusses His Career, The Current State Of Hip-Hop + More w/ FACT TV
Raekwon had himself a chat with the good folks over at FACTmag, providing us with a window into his career with The Wu-Tang Clan and touching on how he's worked to grow and master his craft in solo endeavors. The Shaolin slayer speaks to the importance of maintaining "Chef Mode," delivering that rugged & raw despite the hook-heavy tendencies of contemporary hip-hop and its spruced-up ad primped aesthetic. He explained how that was precisely what set the foundational Staten Island camp apart, they were all the best at what they did, no need to rely on one focal figure to hinge other's successes to.
Rae opens up, wholly and transparently delivering the gospel of Wu, while stressing the value of the hustle through and through. Speaking of hustles, we've been getting weekly doses of throwback steez for months now and I reckon we'd all be better off if they were compiled into one thumping release of funked-out fury. You can watch Raekwon discuss his career, the current state of our dear tradition and how its led him to sharpen his skills as an MC below. His Fly International Luxurious Arts LP is slated to drop next week on September 16th so keep a look out for preorder links and new sounds from the Chef in the days to come.
