Raekwon & Ghostface Killah Unveil 'The Purple Tape Files' Documentary At Sundance
Raekwon & Ghostface Killah joined the cine-cratic festivities at Sundance this year, unveiling the full-length documentary treatment of The Purple Tape Files AKA the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx doc. The long-rumored doc's arrival comes as an early 20th birthday present for the Shaolin masterpiece, which was arguably one of the best (if not the very best) solo Wu-Tang LP that came in the wake of 36 Chambers. It's got all the tales (hopefully putting the other PCP/push-up stories to rest) of how the fellas came up and personal accounts of how the album was the rawest of the rugged&raw.
You'll find the whole roster accounted for, attesting to the album's greatness and providing us with all of the ill behind-the-scenes goodies your heart can bear. We might not have word on whether we'll ever get The Chef's Fly International Luxurious Art LP, but we can all certainly rest at night knowing his solo debut is getting the Time Is Illmatic treatment it deserves; arguably the very same treatment each and every Wu solo piece deserves. There has yet to be a firm date announced for the film's arrival, but you know precisely where to get it. An official trailer has also yet to surface, but you can watch Rae & Ghost discuss the project and their trip to Sundance below. Keep it locked for all the Purple Tape goodies in the weeks and months to come. Support the film by donating at Fanbacked.
