Raphael Saadiq Pays Respect To Bobby Womack On "Gonna Miss U"
Raphael Saadiq puts his musical flame up for the incomparable pioneer of soul Bobby Womack with the heartfelt one-off "Gonna Miss U." The nostalgic soul-chop gets introduced by none other than Snoop Dogg and rocks like a classic ballad with twangy sitar-ish guitar licks -- in the same vein as Jackson 5's "All I Do Is Think Of You" -- paying a proper tribute to our fallen great. Saadiq joins the likes of Questlove, 9th Wonder , Jaleel Bunton of TV On The Radio and, well, the rest of us in remembering Womack's immeasurable contribution to our beloved tradition. Listen to Saadiq's "Gonna Miss U" and read a personal statement from him about the track below.
"Bobby Womack is one of my musical soul International known Heroes, Never had to chance to work with him, or even talk to him, But I did get a chance to shake his hand and say hello, although he didn't know when I spoke to him, if felt like I knew him for a very long time, my parents would always play Bobby Womack Records in the house, and I continued to listen to them, So, much love to Bobby Womack and his Family, Here's Toast to Bobby, a song I finish last night after I heard the news,Gonna Miss You…
Have Beautiful Transition,
RS."
