Raury Exposes His Folky Soul On Debut 'Indigo Child' LP [Stream]
Raury has been intricately stitching acoustic-driven r&b jawns for a minute now, but today we're being gifted a full treatment of his fairytale melancholia in the release of his highly anticipated debut LP Indigo Child. Though we've really only gotten a good glimpse at his fiery heartbreak ballad "Cigarette Song," after just a brief skim of the new piece, there's a deceptively broad range of influence (from The Neptunes to Outkast to Woodie Guthrie) being channeled on to the piece. The cuts range from obvious folky-soul inflections to grander compositions like "God's Whisper" that boast big, embattled kicks and invoke a shockingly deep spectrum of emotion for a 17-year-old songwriter.
Stand out tracks include the aforementioned as well as more poppy, straightforward, future funk-infused anthems like "05 Armor" and the severely lush cool-out joint "Wildfire." Put your feet up, put an L up and take in the rugged, raw soul of Atlanta's wavy new contribution to the left-field realm. Stream Raury's debut Indigo Child LP below and be sure to stay tuned, as it appears we'll be hearing plenty more from the spry ATLien. Dig for more gems on his Soundcloud if you still find yourself itching.
