It's with a very heavy heart that we report the death of MC Sean Price, who passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 8th in his Brooklyn apartment. According to his label, Duck Down Music, the cause of Price's death is currently unknown, but the rapper reportedly died in his sleep. He is survived by his wife and three children.
Price's talents an accomplishments were held in the highest esteem across the hip-hop community. As on half of Heltah Skeltah along with MC Rock, he helped create three excellent albums. Price was also a renowned solo artist, a member of Boot Camp Clik, and a favorite of many at Okayplayer.
In a statement, Duck Down stressed that Price's family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news, but already many of his colleagues and contemporaries have poured out words of grief and gratitude through social media.
