Run The Jewels Drop "Blockbuster Night Part 1" + Sign To Mass Appeal Records, Announce 'RTJ2' Release Date
Run The Jewels (AKA dynamic duo Killer Mike and El-P) have given their adoring masses precisely what they've been begging for: new ish of course! Today it was announced by Mass Appeal that the fellas have joined their Nas-owned imprint and finally put a date on RTJ2. Oh, and we've got some new sonics for your mind too, as the mad-rapping tandem dropped their first single off the record today in the form of "Blockbuster Night Part 1," a change-of-pace blapper that finds their frantic flows landing across a more electronic soundscape, with crunchy, almost metallic drum programming and a menacing guitar chop.
Mark your calendars, the sequel to last year's superlative earning debut album will land on digital shelves October 28th. If you recall, their first album dropped without virtually any promotion. This one's gonna be huge. Listen to their first single from the record "Blockbuster Night Part 1" and read a few words from the duo below.
“We are very excited to bring you the next chapter of Run The Jewels via the good folks at Mass Appeal” El-P
“We can make no promises about the safety of any animals involved in the creation of this record. It is the best rap group album since RTJ1!” Killer Mike
