Ok, this may not come as a surprise to some, but mysterious singer/songwriter/producer, novellus., who impressed many with the release of his self-titled EP (cop on iTunes) has revealed his true identity via OKP. novellus. is in fact Brooklyn’s own sene (of denitia & sene). To go along with this announcement, we also bring you the OKP premiere of the novellus. video, “Reign.” Video directed by New School Student Avinash Hirdaramani. The sene announcements don’t stop with just the alter-ego reveal, the kid has been going hard on the acting front as of late. sene will make his big-screen debut co-starring alongside Morgan Saylor (Homeland) and Justin Bartha (The Hangover movies) in the new Elizabeth Wood directed film, Whitegirl (due out next year). Clearly the future is looking bright for the multi-talented Brooklyn artist (that novellus EP is one of the best projects you’ll hear). Watch the “Reign” video below + get some words on the announcement from sene himself, below. Photo: aaronisnotcool.
I started making music under the name 'novellus' just to be able to make music and get the pulse on things without leveraging the strength of everything else I was getting attention for. I like testing the waters to see if I can make something else work just on the strength of the music not on the history or popularity of other things. Luckily it opened up its own world of opportunity. My mother always asked when I would do a solo singing project haha. This was the first step to that kind of project and I used the name 'novellus' as a combination tribute to the novellas she always watched and how my Irish Italian stepdad pronounced the word novellas. Now there are 'novellus' songs (as well as 'sene.' songs) sound tracking the first movie [WHITEGIRL] im co starring in.
