Slum Village Drop A High-Drama Video For Their Latest Cut "E(I)GO"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Right on time with February's Dilla Month festivities, Slum Villagehave dropped a new video for their latest single "E(I)GO," a jarring black & white clip that features old footage of some of history's biggest moments. Naturally, shots of Dilla are included amongst it all. At its core the clip is something of a departure for Slum Village; the duo appears unabashedly aggressive, scene after scene, as they spit lines about how they pulled themselves out of hellish pasts. T3 and RJ (who produced the track himself) sounded damn near frightening over the stuttering beat when it first dropped last week, and now the intimidation factor has been raised even higher. By the time Rosewood 2055's guest verse finishes we're at least given a lyrical breather by RJ's reminiscent lines of sharing earbud headphones with old friends, but the black & white scenes keep playing, full of mushroom clouds and wind-up monkeys. From what we can tell, madness is the message.

SV is coming hot off their performance at the massive Dilla Weekend in Miami and will be going on tour with Pete Rock starting early next month, a golden-era duo that no hip-hop fan will want to miss. Check the video for "E(I)GO," and read a full list of tour dates below.
