Listen To Sly & The Family Stone Jam On "Music Lover" Live ca. 1968

Way back in 1968, Sly & The Family Stone had just scored their first major hit with the mesmerizing and iconic single "Dance To The Music," marking a major shift in both their pull as a band and their audience at large. A new compilation of live recordings from Sly & Company's two-night takeover of NYC's legendary Fillmore East is being prepared for a Record Store Day release this Saturday, April 18th (thanks to the curatorial duties of one Captain Kirk Douglas) promising to shine some light on those early years of Sly's fame and the sound that defined a generation.

Today, a breakout from those performances has arrived via Complex in the form of "Music Lover"; known best for capping off the A-side of Dance To The Music as the final movement in "Dance To The Medley." And while the 2xLP will be available to purchase at the end of this week you will be able to grab the full, 4-disc set on July 17th with preorders being taken on Amazon today. Get yourself a slice of vintage Sly & The Family Stone and stream the live take of "Music Lover" below.
