LargeUp TV: Snoop Lion Speaks On Bunny Wailer

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

The LargeUp crew came through with kind of a crazy exclusive this morning, touching on all the controversy on Snoop Lion being--as I understand the situation--sued by Bunny Wailer and a council of elders claiming to represent the Rastafarian faith for being a fake Ras. Turns out LU had just sat down with the newly-lionized Snoop for an exclusive LargeUp TV interview during which he spoke at some length on his relationship with Bunny, who he referred to as his 'Big Brother'. Get the full story below and then watch the exclusive video clip at bottom.

Bunny Wailer’s gripes with Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion and his representation of Rastafari culture have become a hot topic recently, even making gossip website TMZ. “Fire will bun fi him,” the site suggested—props on your patois, Harvey—if Snoop doesn’t make things right with Bunny and the Rastafari Millennium Council, which has also aired grievances with Snoop and his Vice-produced Reincarnated documentary—and asked him to stop calling himself “Lion.”

As it happens, we sat with Snoop recently for a wide-ranging conversation that, among other things, covered his relationship with the reggae legend and Wailers co-founder. Bunny, pictured above with Snoop and producer Andrew Moon Bain (one of several songwriters for the Snoop Lion project), appears on the Reincarnated album and in the documentary (which is set for release on Bob Marley’s birthday next month). Watch what Snoop had to say about his “big brother” Bunny below, and look out for our full Reincarnated webisode with Snoop Lion and Diplo soon.
