Zikomo Shares House-Laced Remix of Soul II Soul's Classic "Back To Life" [Premiere]
Soul II Soul's "Back To Life" is one of those rare remnants of late-eighties dance music that remains as cherished today as at is was in 1989. It's been the subject of an impossibly broad spectrum of remixes (as recently as Stro Elliot's "Soul II Stro,") all built out of its mantra-like hook, all perfectly in-league with one another. You almost can't fuck it up.
Today we have another blazing submission to that mile-high mountain of recalibrations with the premiere of Zikomo's house-laced re-freak. Heavy-swung and relentless in its groove, the Soulection producer's take is the perfect score for tonight's turn-up, and won't be easy to shake thereafter. It also marks the second time in as many months that he's delivered a cloud-conquering smash, following an intoxicating uptempo edit of Childish Gambino's "Terrified" (certainly worth revisiting.)
