Sleepy Brown x Big Rube - "Choosen" Official Video [NSFW]
Sleepy Brown steps outside of long-time partnership with super producers Rico Wade and Ray Murray - the other men behind the Dungeon Family machine - just long enough to drop another solo joint. With a habit of sneaking up and dropping tracks like bombs, Brown's latest is the newest chapter in a long tradition of southern fried heat. Another Organized Noize production, "Choosen" sounds like a fitting follow-up to UGK's "International Players Anthem" produced by DJ Paul and Juicy J in 2007. If only Andre 3000 would be so kind as to hop on the remix. Is there a remix? One can dream. If nothing else, "Choosen" is the kind of production that makes you truly miss a dude like Pimp C. The king of music made for bending corners in Cadillacs, Sleepy Brown has once again reached into his bag of tricks to offer another smoothed out banger from his release ATL = A Town Legend out now via iTunes.
Big Rube brings hardcore DF fans back to his days dropping gems with Society of Soul. The video opens with Rube professing his Dungeon Family love and allegiance over footage of a heist which takes Brown from a parking lot shoot-out to the center of a sting at a strip joint where it's likely that a few of the women are wearing wires (some of them are definitely carrying cuffs). The clip, directed by Video Rahim, maintains the velvety pimpish aesthetic Brown has become known for in yet another sonic and cinematic nod to the Blaxploitation era. It makes you wonder what kind of music would happen if Brown was ever locked in a room with Adrian Younge. Until then have a taste:
