SZA Calls On Mac Miller To Perform "U R" Live In Session + Interview
SZA's had a damn good run these past few months, dropping her TDE-heavy Z EP and in doing so, carving out her spot amongst the most promising left-field vocalists out. Back when she was doing promo runs for the release, she stopped by Red Bull Studios LA to perform a few tracks with some A-list collaborators for an intimate performance of the standout cuts from her release. When it came to the slow-rocking waviness of "Babylon," she was joined by label-mate and inarguable top dawg of the pervasive hip-hop camp to deliver his passionate words, which we gave you just last month. However, when she broke things down on another synth and guitar driven ballad, she brought Mac Miller up to man the six-string; a surprising triumph from the faded -- drank -- Pittsburgh MC.
Just before the performance, Yahoo got the chance to catch up with SZA, delving into what she thinks people expect from an artist of her nature, what she demands of herself and ultimately how important the connection with her fan base really is. You can watch SZA and Mac tear up the stage as they perform "U R" below, but be sure to cop the impressive Z EP via iTunes to get with all the fuss.
