T.I. & Pharrell Link On The Soulful New Cut "Paperwork"
T.I.and Pharrell team up for the title track off the ATL bomber's forthcoming Paperwork LP. Don't mind the roll of 808s underneath the groove, this updated take on the Motown sound finds P letting loose his inner Curtis on a number that wreaks of Impressions-era soul, tenderly crooning a falsetto-laced hook. All the while, TIP warns us of the dangers of life in the trap over a waltzing production, soaked with subtle electric keys and rags-to-riches blues. While we can't imagine this being a full-blown single, it's certainly a nice taste of a more introspective side to the Southern draw champ.
It's a shockingly formidable (and humble) cut from the man who once went by King, rekindling musical ties with the hit-maker that provided him with some of his very first crossover cuts. The album is due out October 21st and will feature a laundry list of top-tier performers and producers including Iggy Azalea, Usher, DJ Mustard and even a few more collaborations with Skateboard P.
