Tall Black Guy - "Midnight Chocolate Run"
Tall Black Guy returns from the lab with the tasty results of his stab at a recent sample challenge entitled "Midnight Chocolate Run." The production expands and contracts with a melody that plays like a short jaunt on Parliament's mother ship. The big sticky bass line and nuanced percussion send this track into another dimension; the locale is more than appropriate for TBG, who exists in a league all his own. No matter the length of the excursion, this is a bit of traveling music that will make any voyage worth the time it takes to pack a bag and roll out. Tall Black Guy serves up yet another shot of pure heat. Though it doesn't sound like it, he admits to having a bit of difficulty putting the pieces together for this joint:
Well this was a pretty intense contest. So many cool sounds to choose from. The sample that stood out to me the most was: S.arah - Manchester Market St, Jazz Guitar Busker, Night. That was the building block for my track. I chopped a small piece of the guitar and made the melody out of it. Then I played a chord progression over the top. I haven't sleep properly in like 3 days working on this tune. It was a challenge to work with all those field sounds.
