'First Look Friday' Alum Tangina Stone Delivers An Important Message On "Matter"

Tangina Stone. If the name and the voice sounds familiar to Okayplayers, it is probably because we introduced her to you via our First Look Friday series. This Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter has impressively wrecked stages from coast to coast, while developing her next project, "Matter," which made its debut on Pigeons & Planes.

Gut wrenching, soul-tearing and a sincere punch to the heart, "Matter" finds Tangina Stone singing about the importance of human life. In addition to that, she also sings about people of color, LGBTQ and how foreign lives are treated as if they are of no importance in the world today. A timely effort, as Trump's America has proven to be more ignorant than insightful, Stone questions how leaders, government officials and agents of hate can "turn a blind eye to the idea that everyone matters."

"Matter," another single from Stone's debut album, Elevate, tackles more than one issue that is considered taboo. From mental health to the joy of love to low self-esteem — Tangina continues to build on her reputation as a great, budding R&B star. If you want to see just how powerful she is, Tangina Stone will headline at Baby's All Right on Sunday, May 7, where she will perform new material.
