Tomorrow night, ABC will air an all-star jazz program broadcasted live and direct from The White House in celebration of International Jazz Day, featuring virtually every giant of generations new and old. The program will be lead by none other than Herbie Hancock with John Beasley serving as musical director for the evening, but wrangles the likes of Chick Corea, Aretha Franklin, Robert Glasper, Wayne Shorter, Marcus Miller, Christian McBride, Esperanza Spalding, Buddy Guy, Terrace Martin, Kris Bowers, Trombone Shorty, Terrence Blanchard, and that's barely even scratching the surface of this thing, touching fusion, blues, soul, funk and so much more.
Jazz At The White House will be an hour-long program, streamed online via the United Nations, UNESCO, U.S. State Department and White House websites. So if you don't have the cable hook-up worry not, the internets have you covered in full. If you think that's a lot to cram into just an hour of primetime, you're probably right. But we have full faith that Hancock & Co. are more than capable of making it happen.
