"The Office" Actor Hugh Dane Dies At 75
Hugh Dane, the actor most known for his role as Hank the Security Guard in NBC's "The Office" has died. He was 75. The Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center posted a notice of his death on Facebook.
For nearly three decades, Dane played roles in films and series such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Bridesmaids," and “Little Fockers.”
Dane's "The Office" co-stars commemorated his passing on Twitter, Monday, sharing memories from their time working together. Actor Rainn Wilson tweeted a clip of a scene with their characters on the show, alongside a donation link to the Inner City Cultural Center. “RIP Hugh Dane, aka Hank the security guard,” Wilson wrote. “He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him.

Dane broke into acting in the late '80s with a role in the video game “It Came From the Desert.” His first television part was a role as the Father in “Hunter." He then went on to do more television, playing two characters in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and recurring as Fred in the Emmy-nominated ’90s series “Roc.” Though" Dunder Mifflin’s Hank the Security Guard was Dane’s most longstanding role, he had a few stints on “Friends,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Monk,” “Boy Meets World,” “The West Wing,” and most recently, “The Mayor.
