A shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has left at least three officers dead and more injured.

KALB News Channel 5 in Alexandra, Louisiana reports that at least seven police officers were shot on Sunday morning, with three confirmed as dead.

The shooting happened on Airline Highway, near the old Hammond Highway in Baton Rouge.

ABC affiliate WBRZ News 2 reports that a witness said there was a man "dressed in black with his face covered shooting indiscriminately when he walked out between a convenience store and car wash across from Hammond Air Plaza." According to ABC News, Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden said officers were responding to a call of shots fired, and shots were fired at them once they arrived.

A manhunt began immediately after the shooting, and multiple roads and highways have been closed as a result of the shooting.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has released the following statement on the shooting:

"This is an unspeakable and unjustified attack on all of us at a time when we need unity and healing. Rest assured, every resource available to the State of Louisiana will be used to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. For now, I'm asking all Louisianians to join Donna and me in praying for the officers who were involved and their families as the details continue to unfold."

The story is still developing. Okayplayer will provide updates as they happen.
