Stream Thundercat's New 'The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam' LP
Late last week, Thundercat announced that he'd be putting a plump cherry on top of his already massive contribution to 2015 on Kendrick Lamar's cherished To Pimp A Butterfly LP. And while the lead-off single "Them Changes" served as a nice appetizer for the record, today we received the full dose of his stank-face-inducing avant-funk styles in the mini-album's official release. That's six tracks, featuring production from Flying Lotus, tickles of ivory from jazz giant Herbie Hancock (perhaps a leftover from their time working on You're Dead! ?) virtuoso sax man Kamasi Washington and string arrangements from Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. You can stream Thundercat's deceptively expansive mini-LP The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam below via Spotify, just be sure to hit iTunes to follow through with the best seven bucks you'll spend all week. Catch him and the crew live later this summer first at the second annual Low End Theory Festival in LA on August 8th and then again on the beast coast at Afro-Punk Festival in Brooklyn on August 23rd. Now sit back and bless the air to Cat's new piece; a righteous way, by any measure, to commence or conclude the day.
