Tory Lanez Allegedly Apologized After Shooting Megan Thee Stallion: "I Just Got Too Drunk"
The Canadian rapper allegedly texted Megan Thee Stallion to apologize after the bloody incident.
Tory Lanez, who was recently named as the shooter during a July incident involving Megan Thee Stallion admits he was drunk the same evening. A month ago, Megan spoke candidly via an Instagram Live video about being shot in her feet and being rushed to surgery.
On Wednesday, TMZ released a report alleging Tory Lanez apologized via text message 15 hours after the shooting. He also urged Megan for forgiveness (peak gaslighting) which is a bit off-putting given how the violent incident led her to fear for her life, she shared this detail with her fans on Instagram. Additionally, in a previous Instagram post, she made it clear that the gunshot wounds she suffered were serious.
Tory’s text message to Megan allegedly read, “I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart.” On the topic of what led to the shooting, he wrote: “I was just too drunk.”
Though he doesn’t seem to reference “shooting” or a gun, TMZ notes he regrets something. He adds, "None the less s**t should have never happened and I can't change what did. I just feel horrible." Tory then acknowledges his drunken state again, “Cuz I genuinely just got too drunk.”
We previously reported that Tory Lanez was arrested and booked at the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on July 12 for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. Prior to his arrest, police responded to claims of an argument inside an SUV outside of a Hollywood Hills home. Gunshots were fired and Megan later shared she was shot in her feet. She later shared images of injuries.
During the previously mentioned Instagram Live video last month, Megan acknowledged she’d been silent on the evening because she wanted to protect those involved. After weeks of not speaking out, Tory reportedly reached out to HotNewHipHop after the publication released a report claiming his streaming numbers were down.
The report notes "during the week of August 21, following Megan’s revealing August 20 livestream, Tory’s streams plummeted by nearly 9 million—a 40% drop from the previous week’s 22 million streams." Tory reached out to refute the claims as untrue, he didn't address the shooting or Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez hasn't been arrested or charged for the shooting. The L.A. County D.A. is currently considering charging him with "felony assault with a firearm" reports TMZ.
