Trey Songz may be facing felony domestic violence charges.
Trey Songz was arrested after surrendering to LAPD Monday morning on suspicion of domestic violence.
The 33-year-old singer, whose given name is Tremaine Neverson, was released on $50,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's inmate information center. Songz turned himself in, alongside his attorney Shawn Holley, for the arrest in relation to the Feb. 18 incident involving a woman he was out with in L.A. during NBA All-Star weekend.
Andrea Buera claims several people witnessed the singer attack her at a Hollywood Hills party.
"I was attending an after party when Trey began yelling at me, choking me, punching me, and ultimately he knocked me to the ground," Buera told reporters during a press conference last week. "While I was on the ground, he continued punching me and he did not stop until his security guard pulled him off of me."
She says she suffered a concussion and had to go to a hospital for treatment.
Buera was granted a temporary restraining order against Songz, with a hearing for a permanent injunction slated for March 27. According to Buera's lawyer Lisa Bloom, on the day of the alleged assault, Songz was already on probation in Michigan after pleading guilty to charges of aggravated assault and punching a police officer six months prior.
The singer posted a statement on Twitter Monday, denying the allegations, claiming "I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone's personal gain."
\u201cFor weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me.
