Pass The Popcorn: Mack Wilds Is In Search Of The Golden Era Sound In The Official Trailer For 'The Breaks'

Mack Wilds Is In Search Of The Golden Era Sound In The Official 'The Breaks' Trailer

Perhaps some of you recall the announcement of VH1 Films' latest venture into the weird and wild world of period pieces, The Breaks. Though the countdown has been an anxious one, we finally have a release date and an accompanying trailer for you true-schoolers to behold. The trailer finds one Mack Wilds reuniting with fellow The Wire alum Method Man (who plays his begrudging father,) assuming the main role as a fledgling producer in search of the the voice that would ignite the golden era and define it as such in the hip-hop Mecca (NYC) during some its most formative years (late-80s, early-90s.) The film is based on Don CharnasThe Big Payback (a must-read for any burgeoning hip-hop scholar) and finds the one and only DJ Premier in the executive music director's seat; a fitting gig for the producer that actually defined the early-to-mid 90s sound. The film is slated to premier on January 4th with direction from Seth Mann (of The Wire, Homeland and The Walking Dead fame.) Peep the official trailer for The Breaks below and hold tight for the drop, this one is not to be missed.
