Video: Company Flow "Patriotism" + "Bad Touch" Live
And they said the band would never get back together. Not The Smiths, y'all, I am talking about Company Flow. Yes, El-P, Mr. Len and Big Jus are together again (onstage anyway) and it feels so good. After 10 years off, the trio reunited last year for a tour, which has the fans like me giddy with glee. 14 years after the release of the classic Funcrusher Plus, an album that still influences both underground and mainstream, the group remains one of most respected acts, period. In a recent artist-on-artist piece with Million-Dollar Mano for The Chicago Reader, El-P says this of the reunion:
In my mind, it was like, man, that was ten years ago, you know? I'm not sure it would be great. And we just had the most amazing experience with these shows—the energy was so there still. It was really ill to get up in front of people and realize that we were still getting love.
Watching the Chicago performances of “Patriotism” (above) and “Bad Touch” (below) from this tour, you can feel that love firsthand. Now hopefully this all leads to a new album but meanwhile El-P's solo joint Cancer For Cure drops through Turnstile on May 28th...see artwork and tracklisting after the jump.
