Will Andre 3000 Release A Solo LP in 2014?

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Andre 3000 could be pulling everyone's chain, but the Outkast MC mentioned plans to drop a new LP in 2014 during a recent chat with BET executive Stephen G. Hill. Hill took to Twitter to share his shock at hearing the news from Dre.

The news is a major development for fans who have been waiting for the Atlanta veteran to chase The Love Below - his unofficial 2003 solo debut, which was packaged alongside Big Boi's Speakerboxxx - with some new material. The news follows the emergence of a grainy photo of 3000 in the studio with producer Mike Will Made It early last month. Since the release of The Love Below and 2006's Idlewild soundtrack, Andre 3000 has made a name for himself as the king of the guest verse, popping up on huge singles and killing the competition without breaking a sweat. T.I. famously remarked that 3000 "bodied" him on his own song, referring to Dre's performance on his 2012 single "Sorry." It is no secret that Andre 3000 has long been your favorite MC's favorite MC. If he could manage to aggregate those notoriously mind melting verses of his into one solid project, it is quite possible that Three Stacks could body the game once and for all. Whether Andre 3000 cares about the props or not, he deserves to be publicly acknowledged as one of the greatest lyricists of all time. Maybe 2014 will be the year the clouds part and that can finally happen. While the excitement around the idea of new music from Dre continues to build, Billboard reports that his publicist has stated that there is no official confirmation of a new project yet.
