Willow Smith Delivers Sophisticated R&B On The 'III' EP

Willow Smith and big bro Jaden have been hitting us with surprisingly mature offerings in the left-field of the hip-hop r&b spectrum for some time now. The heiress to The Smith Entertainment Empire, despite her age, has been delivering shockingly deep rhythm&melancholy joints over the months, culminating in the release of a three-track EP, aptly titled III. Free of her brother's contribution, young Smith hits us with a trio of silky and synth-heavy, boom-bap-touched (but not defined) cuts that show an immense talent for constructing catchy hooks with wise-beyond-beyond-her-years anecdotes on love and loss and even a few lines about getting smoothies with friends. Let's not forget that as mature as the records have been sounding, Willow is an astonishing (just-turned) 14-years-old. And there's always a little room for smoothies in the life of a barely adolescent. Willow Smith's III EP is available for free for a limited time on Google Play, so cop it there if you feel so inclined. I guess it's time we started getting used to the idea of the heirs to Bel Air being more productive than their folks. So get familiar, it appears the young Smiths are here to stay.
