WNYC Airs New Podcast Series on the Life and Death of Prodigy

New podcast alert!

WNYC Studios has just launched a new podcast series called The Realness, which chronicles the life and death of late rapper Prodigy.

The artist was battling sickle cell anemia throughout his career. The Realness takes listeners behind Prodigy’s music and his time spent living with the rare blood disease, revealing how his condition touched almost every aspect of his life: from the sound of his rhymes to the circumstances of his death on June 20, 2017.

The series includes never-before-heard audio of Prodigy discussing life with sickle cell and features interviews with  Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest; Roxanne ShanteDr. Dre of “Yo! MTV Raps Today”; Hot 97 radio host Peter Rosenberg; and Matty C, one of the founding writers at The Source.
