Young Thug: “I made the way for young niggas to open up and be they self. I did this. I got crucified."
In a recent Instagram live broadcast, Young Thug proclaimed his influence spawned hip-hop's new generation of rappers.
The 26-year-old Atlanta artist claims his gender-fluid fashion style garnered criticism and turned him into a polarizing figure in hip-hop while allowing for newer rappers to follow suit.

“I’m the drip god. I created this shit,” he said in the video, making reference to his penchant for tight jeans and what's considered "feminine" fashion. “I made the way for young niggas to open up and be they self. I did this. I got crucified. They call me gay; they ain’t call y’all niggas gay […] I made y’all tighten y’all jeans up."
The cover of Thug's 2016 album, Jeffery, famously features an image of the rapper donning a dress.

"I’m the wave god. I’m the master. I’m the founder," he continues. "I'm already a legend; I can pass away now."
