Your Old Droog Continues To Rock On New Single "Hidden Persuaders"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Your Old Droog is on a simple mission: to spread the sweetness of his nutty bars until we're all stuck with rap root canals. After throwing down his phenomenal debut LP late last year, the Ukrainian-by-way-of-Brooklynite MC followed up with this year's Kinison EP, and now we've just been bestowed with another brand new track, "Hidden Persuaders." Rest assured--it's textbook droog. Over slow and sparse drums and a simple blues guitar riff, Droog spits bar after bar of deft wordplay, referencing Brooklyn-bound Q trains, Kris Kross, Jack LaLanne, summer camp, and more. "We're not buying your bullshit, darlin'" Droog drawls over the hook, while the beat rolls on low and steady like a Chevelle on cruise control. Just as with many of the rapper's previous outings, >DJ Skizz is credited with production.

As the single's artwork would suggest, Your Old Droog is gearing up for a show at the prestigious Jazz Cafe in London on June 8th (you can grab your tickets here). After catching him at our own SXSW showcase, we can't recommend live Droog enough--the prodigious MC's cool demeanor and classic beats make for an eminently satisfying show. DJ Skizz is gearing up for a special colored vinyl release of his BQE: The Brooklyn-Queens Experience project, and word is Droog will be featured amongst a multitude of talents. Find out more about that release here, and grab yourself Your Old Droog's self-titled debut off of iTunes if you haven't already done so. Nod along to "Hidden Persuaders" below.
