Your Old Droog Bodies The Mic In A New Freestyle For Showoff Radio
At this point, anyone who needs evidence of Your Old Droog's lyrical skills needs a full-blown remedial rap refresher/intervention course. The young Ukrainian is capable of eviscerating microphones, and on Tuesday morning the world got its latest glimpse of the extent of his verbal powers. Droog stopped by the Showoff Radio show on Sirius's Shade 45 to do, well, exactly that.
Over a one bar beat dropped by his frequent collaborator Statik Selektah, Droog proceeded to spit bar after bar of brilliant improvisation, twisting rhyme detours out of verbal tunnels that seemed to contain nothing but dead ends. Seriously now--Your Old Droog's brief but fierce display is surely one of the strongest radio freestyles we've come across in a long while, and worthy of commendation even if a few of these bars are long-practiced muscle memory on his part. (It should be noted that not 5 months ago, Droog was caught turning heads on the very same program, going in over some classic DJ Premier beats). Droog is currently on the edge of his #EuroDroog tour, which will see the Coney Island MC making visits to London, Lyon, Dublin and numerous other Old World locales. Watch his Showoff session below and aspiring MCs get yourself a towel--it's enough to make you break out in cold sweat.
