Yuna - "Rescue"
Leave it to Yuna to make a song about despair perfect for a day at the beach. "Rescue" is a colorful release from rising Malaysian soul star Yuna's much anticipated second album, Nocturnal. The follow up album appears to be one of her more playful works, production-wise but the lyrics continue to expose a greater look into Yuna's character: she thinks she's all alone / and all her hopes are gone / and so I write this song / so she could move along. She admits to listeners that she's had obstacles that left her completely hopeless (unexpected from the almost always cheerful Yuna), painting a picture of being buried under the weight of these problems before she finally digs her way out of the rubble. It's admirable to see how open Yuna has been with her fans over the years and she wisely makes that vulnerability approachable through her use of upbeat and fast-paced musical arrangements. "Rescue" mirrors the same positive and youthful sophistication that we saw on her previous release "Fallen", hinting to fans that they can expect a strong follow up to her self-titled debut album (known for the Pharrell-produced hit, "Live Your Life".)
