Five Years Since 'Queen,' Nicki Minaj Sets Fifth Album Release Date for Fall
On Monday, Nicki Minaj announced the tentative release date for her long-awaited fifth album, which follows 2018’s Queen.
Nicki Minaj is making her mark for fall. On Monday (June 5), the Harajuku Barbie, legal name Onika Maraj, announced the release date of her fifth album for October 20. The long-awaited LP will arrive five years since Minaj’s 2018 album Queen, which featured Labrinth and Eminem (“Majesty”), Lil Wayne (“Rich Sex”), Ariana Grande (“Bed”), The Weeknd (“Thought I Knew You”), Swae Lee (“Chun Swae”), and Foxy Brown (“Coco Chanel”). Also on Queen were singles “Chun-Li/Barbie Tingz,” “Bed,” “Good Form” and “Barbie Dreams,” a flip of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Just Playing (Dreams).”

Since then, Minaj’s newer music has largely been feature-heavy, as she’s most recently hopped on tracks with YoungBoy Never Broke Again (“What That Speed Bout!?,” “I Admit”), Lil Baby (“Bussin”), Coi Leray (“Blick Blick”), Yung Bleu (“Love In the Way”), Ice Spice (“Princess Diana”) and Sexyy Red (“Pound Town 2”). Minaj is also confirmed as a featured artist on Barbie: The Album, reconnecting with Ice Spice for “Barbie World” with Europop band Aqua.

Minaj has also appeared solo on post-Queen songs like “Megatron,” “Red Ruby da Sleeze,” and “Super Freaky Girl,” which she performed at the finale of her Video Vanguard Award medley. To celebrate the honor, Minaj also shared the compilation album Queen Radio: Volume 1 last August.

In 2021, Minaj also released her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty to vinyl and streaming services, including five additional tracks like “Seeing Green” with Lil Wayne and Drake. Along with her new album, Minaj will star in the 50 Cent co-produced animated series Lady Danger, where she’ll star as the titular character.
