Suzi Analogue - PRIDE 2018 w/ Suzi Analogue

Never Normal Records founder and DJ/producer Suzi Analogue talks the importance of representation for PRIDE 2018.

This playlist was inspired by the countless musical innovators from the LGBTQ community. For many years, so many people from the community have innovated music as we know it - from the beats, to lyrical delivery and more, but do not receive the recognition or visibility that is deserved. I hope that with each passing year, we see increased representation in the music industry - something that will not only free listeners, but the artists themselves. Thank you to these artists who have shared themselves with the world!

Bright Light Bright Light - PRIDE 2018 w/ Bright Light Bright Light

Bright Light Bright Light celebrates the beauty in diversity for the SoundCloud PRIDE 2018 playlist collection.

For me, Pride is an important celebration of the diversity of the LGBTQIA world. While recognising the immense talent that exists in the queer spectrum, it also recognises the struggles that the community has faced, overcome and is still overcoming. Fortunately, these days, lots of organizations are opting to support Pride events so it's an exciting part of the year where LGBTQIA artists can have a spotlight on them that doesn't always exist

Lauren Ruth Ward - PRIDE 2018 w/ Lauren Ruth Ward

Lauren Ruth Ward summed up her feelings on the importance of representation for members of the LGBTQIA community working in music during a recent interview with Billboard.

It is important for everybody to be acknowledged and heard, especially in an industry that has always helped perpetuate the understanding of the human condition. History has shown that the most meaningful music comes from strife and struggle. The LGBTQ community has only begun to skim the surface of being understood and valued. There is still a huge gap to bridge. Representation in the music industry will only help bridge the gap.
