PASSAGE is a curated mental health and wellness initiative created by Okayplayer. The program was developed to amplify the collective stories and healing practices of millennials of color. Follow the program here and stream PASSAGE, The EP here.
On Thursday, the Fotografiska New York museum announced it'd be hosting Okayplayer's PASSAGE: Live Guided Meditations.. Every Friday at 6 PM for the next six weeks, a maximum of 30 people can practice alongside an instructor and experience PASSAGE, the EP. For the first week of practice, instruction will be given by Kenji Summers, vocalist behind the EP's fifth track, "Love." Get your tickets here.
The PASSAGE EP also inspired a short film visualizer directed and edited by Andrew Morrow. The EP's intro is voiced by Big K.R.I.T., while artists like DejaJoelle, Kwasi Kessie, and more guide listeners through their meditation. All eight tracks were produced by MMYYKK (pronounced Mike), while Steven Othello also provided musical direction.
Tickets will be limited and can be reserved online or in person. Fotografiska New York Museum members can grab tickets for $20, but for $40 non members get to participate along with full museum access included with admission. Current exhibits include Naima Green's Brief & Drenching, Andres Serrano's Infamous, and Martin Schoeller's Death Row Exonerees. Current installations include The Last Rites by Anindito Mukherjee, the 2020 Photography 4 Humanity Global Prize recipient.
Kenji Summers is a wellness uses his meditative practice to assist in community, branding, marketing and communications. He runs Future Current, a creative studio and school focused on utilizing mindful strategizing and thoughtful execution. Free Peace, Summers' art/design company, produced "statements, stories, objects and garments."
PASSAGE, the EP is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
