RZA Shows Love to Burna Boy Sampling Brandy & Ma$e’s “Top of the World”

RZA recently went to Twitter and gave praise to Burna Boy’s new single “Sittin' On Top of the World,” saying he's "carving out his own unique chamber."

RZA is declaring Burna Boy’s new song “Sittin’ On Top of the World” as “special.” The song samples Brandy and Ma$e’s 1998 collaboration “Top of the World,” which appeared on Brandy’s sophomore album Never Say Never.

Retweeting a video shared by Muse Africa, RZA, born Robert Diggs, was seen vibing to the song along with Burna Boy. The full version of “Sittin’ On Top of the World” is slated to release on June 2. The song may also be featured on the follow-up to Burna Boy’s 2022 album Love, Damini.

Burna Boy also posted the video on Instagram, writing, “Had to vibe check the new single with my OG’s ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ June 2nd.”

The snippet also got love from Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, who produced “Top of the World.” “Burna love them Darkchild classics!” Jerkins wrote in the comments section.

In other RZA news, the de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan has been having a jam-packed 2023, starting with the series finale of Hulu show Wu-Tang: An American Saga in April. The group is currently on the European leg of their N.Y. State of Mind Tour with Nas, which hits the United States on September 8, beginning with Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Diggs also has the honor of being the namesake of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s first son, who celebrated his first birthday earlier this month. The couple threw a full-blown Wu-Tang Clan-themed birthday party for little RZA, with guests and decorations honoring the Staten Island hip-hop group.
