Will Smith is set to play RichardWilliams the father of Serena and Venus Williams in an upcoming movie, according to a new report fromDeadline.
The movie, which will be called King Richard, will tell the story of how a Compton man with no Tennis background raised two of the greatest tennis players of all time. The script was written byZach Baylin. (It was a screenplay that recently appeared on The Black List.)
Upon the announcement, there was some criticism with the pick on Twitter. Williams is a dark skinman; Smith is not. Why couldn'tthey find someone who was closer to his complexion?
