The Black-ish star joined Talib Kweli for the latest episode of Uproxx's People's Party. Kweli remarked that the show's Prince episode was the Blackest episode of the series. In return, Anderson pointed out that his co-star Yara Shahidi and The Purple One have a connection of their own.
Shahidi's father Afshin met Prince in 1993 and eventually became his personal cinematographer. The elder Shahidi became the only photographer allowed to shoot Prince's 3121-nightclub private parties in Las Vegas. In 2017, Shahidi published a compilation of the pair's work together titled Prince: A Private View.
