Ari Lennox Kicks off Cuffing Season With "POF" Music Video
A few weeks after the release of age/sex/location, Ari Lennox returns and drops the official video for "POF."
Ari Lennox has released the official video for her new single “POF” off of her sophomore album age/sex/location.
In what serves as somewhat of a precursor for her previously released video for “Hoodie,” the “POF” video showcases Lennox going on multiple failed dates which kick off her cuffing season. One date is with Smino who is taking mini golfing way too seriously. On another date, she’s scammed into "Netflix N’ Chill" with someone who seems to live at home with their mother. Since “POF” is all about plenty of fish in the sea it was fitting that the sea just wasn’t giving what some folks say it gives.
“POF” sets the tone for age/sex/location which was about the past few years of Ari’s life since she released Shea Butter Baby her Dreamville debut. The single touches on not wanting to settle, setting the tone for future romantic partnerships, and also playing the field. In a recent interview with Okayplayer, she mentioned that the release is “another part of her.”
She also mentioned the following on age/sex/location:
“Basically, what a/s/l is, [it’s a] transitional space. Toward the end of a/s/l is me finally becoming aware of how I can grow as a human, what I can do to protect myself from negativity, and now it’s just like the journey has begun.”
The album also sheds light on what this next chapter of her life will be about: leaning into a more confident, self-assured version of herself. The new visual exudes this same energy. If you haven't already taken the album for a spin, you can check it out here, it features Summer Walker, Lucky Daye, and more.
