Daylight Savings Time may have made this a tough week to get through, but New Music Fridays are here to save the day. Every Friday here at Okayplayer, we round up the best new music videos and albums to close out your work week. We know it can be a headache staying abreast of all the latest music, so we've taken it upon ourselves to help you out.
This week's selection of new videos comes from Saba, Guapdad 4000, Pooh Shiesty, Kali Uchis, and Pink Siifu. Guapdad honors his Filipino heritage with a wholesome ode to a native dish, while BFB Da Packman recreates the classic 1999 Eddie Murphy/Martin Lawrence film Life. Stream your favorites from the list below.
In the wake of their collaborative album FlySiifu's, Pink Siifu and Fly Anakin have come together again for the $mokeBreak EP. "Tha Divide" is an old-fashioned posse cut, with all five MCs trading bars over a lush loop. The video reflects the vibe of the studio, with the collective milling about bodegas flexing their beverages of choice.
Fresh off a Best Dance Recording Grammy victory for her contributions to Kaytranada's "10%," Kali Uchis returns to her native Colombia for a self-directed video. "Telepatia" is the first single from Uchis' first Spanish-language album, Sin Miedo.
Gucci Mane's newest protege, Pooh Shiesty, has caught the nation by storm in just a matter of months. His debut mixtape, Shiesty Season, picked up where he left off on Lil Durk's "Back in Blood." The 1017 boss himself drops in this time around, along with about a dozen armed, masked-up video vixens.
Upstart R&B singer Maeta took inspiration from a real-life relationship for her latest single "Toxic." The Skrillex-produced track reflects "the back and fourth that happens when you know you need to leave but the sex is way too good and you are way too deep into it even though you know it’s bad for you."
Chicago MC and Pivot Gang member Saba drops his first solo material of 2021 with "Ziplock/Rich Don't Stop." In a press release, Saba explained that he's currently writing a follow-up to his critically acclaimed album Care For Me. Stay tuned for more.
For his latest project 1176, Oakland MC Guapdad 4000 teams up with !llmind for a more reflective project, exploring his upbringing with a Black father and Filipino mother. "Chicken Adobo" is a dedication to a staple dish, the video is a wholesome--and slightly trippy--vignette.
The first video from Benny the Butcher's The Plugs I Met 2 comes with the most head-turning collaboration. For the "Plug Talk" video, Benny and 2 Chainz sit through press runs and convene for a group therapy session at Hustlers Anonymous.
Houston-via-Flint, Michigan court jester BFB seems to go viral with each of his new music videos. For "Federal," his latest effort, Packman recreates the 1999 classic Life, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Don't let the hijinks distract you from the bars.
