Leven Kali – “Let It Rain”
Leven Kali is always serving up feel-good R&B. For his latest "Let It Rain" he lets the music do the talking for him alongside his newly released video. For the deeply personal clip, he's mainly alone. This release is a follow-up to his 2020 album HIGH TIDE.
Ravyn Lenae, Steve Lacy – “Skin Tight (Alternate)”
"Skin Tight" was an excellent song off of Ravyn Lenae's recently released album Hypnos. On Friday, she shared an alternate version of it accompanied by a video. The newest version of the track is also moving. Throughout the easy-going and calming visualizer, viewers are allowed a glimpse at Lenae as she explores the outdoors.
thuy – “girls like me don’t cry”
Rising R&B star thuy unveils a video for the title track to her EP that arrived last week: girls like me don't cry. thuy is excelling because she expertly captures the nostalgic feeling that was in '00s R&B and injects it with a hint of pop -- this single displays that pretty well. The visual manages to emphasize the message in the track too: being hard and soft interchangeably is normal.
Mikhala Jené – “The Missing Peace”
L.A.-based singer Mikhala Jené revealed "The Missing Peace" a short film alongside the release of her new EP with the same name. Equipped with a bit of spoken word, she drives the point home that living with a beau means nothing if things go unspoken in her new track — the visual is broken up into separate pieces similar to the track. Mikhala landed on our radar recently for her modern R&B sound and refreshing songwriting.
