Blood Orange Salutes The Fallen w/ Touching 'Conan' Performance
From the very moment that police brutality reached its current painfully-visible level, Dev Hynes' Blood Orange stepped right out in front of the masses to declare his allegiance to those victims slain in cold blood by our tasked protectors. He spoke to us directly during his 2014 SummerStage set in the wake of the Ferguson protests and being manhandled backstage at one of his own shows just weeks prior.
With his latest release Freetown Sound, Hynes' mission has only amplified, and in his Conan stint from last night, made sure to put one up for those fallen victims performing the album standouts "St. Augustine" and "Thank You," sitting behind a white piano with photos of Phillando Castille, Terrance Mack, and Turkish activist, Hande Kader, whose body was recently found mutilated and burned for her presence in the LGBTQ community. Watch the performance down below and grab your copy of Blood Orange's Freetown Sound on iTunes today. He'll also be performing the album in its entirety in LA tonight with a livestream set to broadcast via TIDAL exclusively.
