Watch Chika Perform "High Rises" and "Crown" for the Tonight Show
Chika performed two tracks from her debut EP on Wednesday.
It's been a banner year for Montgomery, Alabama MC Chika. On Wednesday, she continued her hot streak with an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Chika performed "High Rises" and "Crown," from her debut EP Industry Games. Stream the full performance below.
Chika is fresh off being named to the 2020 XXL Freshman class. Los Angeles venue The Beehive provided the space for her performance. She was joined by a band and backing vocalists consisting of India Carney, Kenyon Dixon, Danielle Withers, Randell Amie, drummer Krystal Smith, BlackSamurai and bass guitarist Chris Payton.
Industry Games, which dropped to a slew of rave reviews back in March, is available for digital download and streaming on all major platforms. Back in August, Chika introduced herself to the world with a strong showing for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series.
Recently, Chika had a small role in the 2020 Netflix original film starring Jamie Foxx, Project Power. She also wrote original verses included in the film performed by Dominique Fishback. Months after the release of Industry Games, she released "U Should" and "My Power" for the film's soundtrack.
Chika appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last year after being invited by guest host Lena Waithe. She performed "Richey v. Alabama," a track exploring a blocked abortion law in her home state. "Crown" in particular was also recently included on Barack Obama's summer playlist.
