Dev Hynes and Bryndon Cook Drop The Beautiful Visuals For "Hymn"
Not too long back Dev Hynes and Bryndon Cook aka Starchild & the New Romantic announced the surprise news that they formed a group called VeilHymn. The duo also dropped the track "Hymn" and promised a video was on the way. Well, it's here. The music video was directed by Malia James and choreographed by JuriOnuki. The visuals, which were shot in Kingston, Jamaica, were inspired by the late Malian photographer Malick Sidibé. Speaking to Rolling Stone director Malia James remarked "I've always been a massive fan of Malick Sidibé's work and have wanted to pay tribute to him since his passing last year." James continued, "Taking Dev and Bryndon’s ideas and merging my love of Sidibe, I wanted to explore the concept of creating a fictional, vintage time and place similar to the confident and carefree spirits that Sidibé has documented."
“Hymn” features Hynes on production and Cook on vocals. Hynes and Cook are frequent collaborators. Cook was featured on Blood Orange’s Freetown Sound album. The project also featured contributions from Carly Rae Jepsen, Zuri Marley, Debbie Harry, Nelly Furtado, and more. Watch the gorgeous visuals for VeilHymn's "Hymn" via YouTube below.
