Shabazz 2
Shabazz Palaces dropped "Fast Learner," the first single from their upcoming album two weeks ago. On Tuesday, the group released the video to go along with it. The track features Purple Tape Nate, who appeared on the group's 2018 cut "Love in the Time of Kanye."
The visuals are out-of-this-world as usual. This time around, however, a special guest joins the duo in the studio. The son of Shabazz Palaces' Ishmael Butler and SWV's Coko Clemons, also known as Lil Tracy, makes an appearance. Butler spoke about Tracy's sound with Pitchfork in 2018.
"The funny thing is," he said, "I feel like I sound like him in some of my newer stuff that I’ve been making. My daughters will tell you that he’s like a spitting image of me, or he moves like me, or he sounds like me. We are each other, in the literal way, but also artistically and also historically…when we have kids, they live a version of our lives."
Tracy's collaboration with the late Lil Peep peaked at number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. His latest album, Anarchy, is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding the new album. Pre-order the digital album for $10 on Shabazz Palaces' Bandcamp page. The album will be available for purchase on compact disc, black vinyl, and cassette tape.
