The Golden Globes Thought 'Hidden Fences' Was A Thing, So Stephen Colbert Made A Trailer For It

"Based on the true story of people who think all movies about black people are the same movie"

One of the many, many L's taken by The Golden Globes (and really, all of us) this weekend, was the repeated mention of a film that was not only not nominated for any awards, but didn't even exist. Surely, you've seen Pharrell's red carpet side-eye by now in response to being asked for a statement regarding his contribution to the film Hidden Fences by Jenna Bush Hager (yes, that's George W.'s daughter,) or maybe you heard the nonexistent title mentioned again during the ceremony when Octavia Spencer's nomination was being announced.

So instead of tearing into the industry that doesn't seem capable of distinguishing one film about black people from another, Stephen Colbert decided to he'd just run with it. Last night on The Late Show, Colbert debuted a full trailer for the film that so many seem convinced is a real thing, starring, of course, a fence that's destined for space travel, along with Denzel Washington, Janelle Monae, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson. All present for the Golden Globes' phenomenal flub.
