This fall you’ll be able to catch Regina King, Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield and Jonathan Majors as outlaws in Netflix’s movie The Harder They Fall. Who knew that we needed to see Elba as a western outlaw?
On Thursday a trailer was revealed for the film directed by Jeymes Samuel and produced by Jay-Z. Here’s the synopsis, Nat Lowe (Jonathan Majors) finds out that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison so he rounds up his crew to hunt for Rufus, he’s seeking revenge. The crew features Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler).
The synopsis also reads:
“Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King) and Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose. Directed by Jeymes Samuel, written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin, produced by Shawn Carter, James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender and Jeymes Samuel, and featuring a red hot soundtrack and a stunning all-star cast.”
In the trailer, Rufus is rescued from a prison train car thanks to his dedicated crew, Trudy Smith and Cherokee Bill. Blood, violence and gunshots ensue as they exit the train. From there, it's apparent there's some unfinished business he has to attend to.
We’re buckling up for the wild ride that we’re sure The Harder They Fall will be, the trailer is action-packed and filled with blood. It’s reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino’s explosive film The Hateful Eight but with an all-Black cast. Also, Delroy Lindo makes an appearance in the trailer.
The Harder They Fall will arrive on Netflix and select theaters in the fall.
