Watch Larry Wilmore Take Over Stephen Colbert's ‘The Late Show’

Stephen Colbert Larry Wilmore 2 The Late Show

Larry Wilmore is back. After the sudden and quickly enacted cancellation of The Nightly Show, host Larry Wilmore is back on the airwaves. Wilmore took to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, doing the opening monologue, in hopes of securing the time slot before being confronted by Colbert. Wilmore and Colbert are both Comedy Central veterans. The takeover was extrmely fitting considering Larry Wilmore's The Nightly Show replaced the opening left by Stephen Colbert's The Colbert Report. Larry, unfortunately and wrongly, assumed that since he was done with Comedy Central he would automatically get to take the helm as host for The Late Show, as Colbert once did. Full circle. The Nightly Show premiered back in January of 2015 and was cancelled this past month. Colleague Jon Stewart made an appearance on the last episode of The Nightly Show to praise Wilmore and his show. In the short but sweet monologue Wilmore takes shots at the small xenophobic orange handed Republic presidential nominee Donald Trump and Coldplay fans.

Watch the hilarity that ensues as Larry Wilmore attempts to take over The Late Show with Stephen Colbert below. And check back for more news on what's next for Wilmore.
