The Weeknd's Chaotic Las Vegas Trip Continues in the "Blinding Lights" Video
The Weeknd's latest is the second single from his upcoming fourth album.
On the heels of the success of "Heartless" and his role in Uncut Gems, The Weeknd is back with another video treatment. He released the single, "Blinding Lights," just two days after "Heartless," and followed up with the official video on Tuesday afternoon.
The video seems to be a continuation of the storyline from the "Heartless" video, also set in Las Vegas. The Weeknd wears the same threads from that video, as well as his performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While Metro Boomin joined him in the first video, the superproducer is noticeably absent this time around.
In the video, The Weeknd speeds through the streets of Las Vegas. Over the course of four minutes, he's charmed by a songstress to the point of levitation. He sprints through the Vegas strip, dances in the middle of the street, and is attacked by two formally-dressed henchmen. Somewhere along the way, his nose is bloodied, and he loses the keys to his sports car. By the end of the video, he cheerfully extends his thumb in hopes of catching a ride to safety.
"Blinding Lights" debuted at number two on the Rolling Stone Top 100 charts. Its position was second only to "Heartless." The newest single debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Heartless" debuted at number 32 on Billboard, yet climbed to the top spot in the following week.
"Heartless" and "Blinding Lights" are currently available on all major streaming services.
